SOUTHEAST MINNEAPOLIS LEARNING CARNIVAL

DISCOVER, EXPLORE, EXPERIMENT, AND HAVE FUN
AT THE SOUTHEAST MINNEAPOLIS LEARNING CARNIVAL
On Saturday, September 24th from 1pm to 4pm, Van Cleve Park will come alive with learning during the Southeast Minneapolis Learning Carnival. People of all ages are invited by the Southeast Minneapolis Council on Learning (SEMCOL) for an afternoon of fun and hands-on learning activities, provided for FREE by your neighbors and community organizations.
- Explore the solar system at the MN Planetarium Society’s ExploraDome. - Play on the Mobile Creative Outpost’s adventure playground.
- Watch a flameworker from Foci Glass and even try melting glass yourself.
- Learn about robots with U of M Robotics.
- See how fast you can set up a tent with Wilderness Inquiry. - Wander through the Book House’s bookshelf maze.
- Play games with Minneapolis Park and Recreation.
- Learn about Chinese language and culture with the Confucius Institute.
- Listen to stories read by the librarian from the SE Library.
- Taste local foods and learn about how they are grown with Midwest Food Connection.
- Learn about pottery and clay with the Northern Clay Center.
- Wonder and ask questions about the Bible with University Lutheran Church of Hope.
- Make things and try a life-size game of Operation with TC Maker and the Hack Factory
- Get in front of the camera and behind the scenes to create a short film with IFP MN Center for Media Arts
- Learn how to dance with Pratt Community Education and Essence of Prodigy Dance Studio
- And more!
In addition, the Learning Dreams Unsettlement House will be asking everyone: “What do you want to learn? What do you want to try? What new thing are you dreaming of doing? The Unsettlement House is a mobile collection of inspiring learning objects. It is designed to connect people to the possibilities for learning in their lives and in their community. Its goal is to bring individual learning dreams and collective educational capacities to the surface of community life. Look for the Unsettlement House around Prospect Park before and after the carnival.
